Activated carbon is widely used in wastewater treatment, drinking water purification, air purification and other fields. Its strong adsorption capacity enables it to effectively remove color, odor and harmful substances in water. There are different grades of activated carbon on the market. What factors affect the decolorization ability of activated carbon? Today we will discuss this issue.

The influencing factors are as follows:

Porous structure: The pore structure of activated carbon provides a large number of adsorption sites, enabling it to adsorb a large number of impurity molecules.

                                              Activated carbon decolorization

Surface functional groups: The functional groups on the surface of activated carbon (such as hydroxyl, aldehyde, etc.) can react chemically with certain colored substances to further remove color.

Methylene blue adsorption value: This is an important indicator for detecting the adsorption capacity of activated carbon. The higher the value, the better the decolorization effect.

Temperature and pH value: Under acidic conditions, the decolorization effect of activated carbon is better; the best effect is at around 50°C.
